The Ulster County Department of Emergency Services will activate County cooling centers beginning Tuesday, June 30 through the evening of Friday, July 3, from 9 AM to 7 PM daily, in response to dangerous heat conditions expected this week.

The County cooling centers will be open as follows:

Municipal Cooling Centers

In addition to County-run cooling centers, the following locations have been activated as municipal cooling centers. Please note that hours may differ.

Emergency Services will reassess conditions on Thursday, July 2 to determine whether activations should continue through the holiday weekend and into next week.

Law Enforcement agencies or any other organizations that come in contact with or become aware of any individuals who are in need of shelter can bring them to the cooling center.

The Emergency Services Department coordinates efforts to prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters. The Department operates 911 and supports emergency service agencies within Ulster County.

Emergency services includes traditional emergency responders such as police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS), along with the 911 dispatchers and the entire emergency management community. The common goal of all of these groups is to save lives. There are thousands of members of the emergency services community ranging from career personnel to volunteers. These men and women work around the clock to ensure the safety of Ulster County’s citizens. They do it with compassion, dedication and professionalism.
