2015 Voter Registration, Enrollment, and Address Change Deadlines
ATTENTION: VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 9, 2015
By Mail: Postmarked by October 9, 2015 and received at the Board by October 14, 2015.
In Person: October 9, 2015 by 5:00 PM.
Exceptions: If honorably discharged from the military or have become a naturalized citizen since October 9, 2015, you may register in person up until October 24, 2015.
Political Party Enrollment Change: Deadline October 9, 2015. Party enrollment changes must be to the Board by October 9, 2015 to take affect after this year's General Election and for the calendar year of 2016. Any enrollment changes received after October 9, 2015 will not take affect until after the General Election in November 2016 for the calendar year of 2017. Remember in New York State you must be registered in a Party to vote in a Primary for that Party.
Change of Address: Deadline October 14, 2015. All voter address changes must be received at the Board by October 14,2015.
To register to vote in New York State you must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote);
- live at your present address at least 30 days before an election;
- not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction and;
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
