150 Seniors Attended A Variety Of Workshops At The Kingston Center Of SUNY Ulster

Kingston, NY – Yesterday, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein welcomed seniors to the 19th annual “Live, Laugh and Learn” day of workshops at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster.   Live, Laugh and Learn is hosted by the Ulster County Office of the Aging and consisted of a full day of fun workshops and exercise to promote the health and well-being of Ulster County seniors.

“It is always a pleasure to see so many seniors attending the `Live, Laugh and Learn´ workshops each year and I want to thank Christine Noble, Ulster County’s Sr. Aging Services Aide, for organizing another outstanding event, Kelly McMullen, Director of the Office for the Aging, as well as all of the other organizations who helped in sponsoring the program.  This is an event where seniors can choose a workshop that interests them and learn valuable information in an enjoyable atmosphere. I appreciate all of the amazing seniors who participated in the extraordinary workshops, the presenters and all our partners for all they do for our community.”

Several new educational, fitness and fun workshops were offered this year as well as some old favorites.   Some of this year’s workshops included: Zumba Gold; Preparing for Emergencies; Hidden Treasures; Laughter Yoga; Tai Chi-Like Exercises for Seniors; Services for Seniors from the County Clerk; Empowerment while Navigating Long-Term Care; A Better Understanding of Hearing Loss; Silver Sneakers Classic; and Identity Theft and Scam Prevention.

“This is a great program which provides seniors with critical information and services, and at the same time, gives them the opportunity to have some fun and meet other seniors from the area.  I appreciate County Executive Hein’s continued interest in holding this event each year and I also want to extend my gratitude to Christine Noble and the Committee who helped to coordinate this event,” said Kelly McMullen, Director of the Ulster County Office for the Aging.  “I want to thank the many seniors who attended as well as the amazing presenters that helped make Ulster County’s 19th `Live, Laugh and Learn´ a success.”
