STATEMENT FROM ULSTER COUNTY LEGISLATIVE CHAIRMAN PARETE: SPECIAL INFORMATIONAL SESSION CANCELED

Posted May 6, 2014

Ulster County Legislative Chairman John Parete has canceled the special information session scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 5:30. The meeting was intended to allow Michael Treanor to address the Legislature.

“In speaking with Minority Leader Ronk, we are comforted that the organization has moved swiftly to find a replacement for Mr. Treanor and keep this essential economic development project for Ulster County on track,” stated Legislative Chairman John Parete.

He further noted, “The reality is that a casino placed at the former Nevele Grande Hotel and Country Club in the Town of Wawarsing is estimated to bring approximately $2,287,985 annually in local government aid to Ulster County. The Ulster County Legislature remains united in keeping our eye on the prize and with a project as strong, as advanced, and as comprehensive as the Nevele Resort, Casino & Spa, we will not let one man, one incident, or one mistake take away what so many have worked so hard for.”

Chairman Parete believes that when there is controversy, it is best to get the real facts out in the open. “Many people want and deserve answers,” said the Chairman. “There will be ample time for the truth to be heard.”
