Ulster County Legislator Craig Lopez Partners with the NYS Department of Homeland Security & NY National Guard to Host a Free Emergency Preparedness Training

Kingston – Legislator Craig Lopez, District 14, will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Training on November 1, 2017 for anyone who wishes to attend.

“Since elected in 2011 one of my top priorities has been to ensure that our first responders have the proper resources needed to protect themselves and keep our community safe,” Lopez said. “One of the best things Ulster County residents can do to assist our first responders during emergencies is to be prepared ourselves,” he continued.

In his continuous efforts to provide these resources to residents and first responders, Legislator Lopez reached out to the New York State Department of Homeland Security and the New York National Guard to host a disaster preparedness course on Wednesday, November 1st at the Walker Valley Firehouse, 3679 Route 52, Walker Valley, NY 12588.

“Considering the continued threats we are facing, from super storms to terror related incidences, it's important for our community to remain alert, proactive and prepared in the event of a natural or man-made disaster,” Lopez stated. “It is crucial that each of us has an emergency plan for ourselves, our families and our pets so that when disaster strikes we are ready,” he concluded.

In addition to life saving tips and invaluable information on how to be best prepared, community members will receive a free preparedness kit including a basic first aid kit, flashlights, batteries, water and other essentials needed to keep safe in an emergency.

Space is limited for this incredibly important training and seats are filling up fast. Please RSVP as soon as possible to reserve your spot and to ensure we will have enough preparedness kits: www.nyprepare.gov/aware-prepare/nysprepare/registration
