Background -+

Lynn Eckert grew up in Abington, a suburb of Philadelphia. She attended Gettysburg College where she majored in Political Science and went on to earn a Ph.D. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. A tenured professor at Marist College, Lynn has been teaching varied course work over the past sixteen years that includes Constitutional Law, Race and Political Thought and Feminist Theory. For the past two years, Lynn has had the privilege of serving on the Kingston Common Council in Ward One, where she chaired the Laws and Rules Committee and advocated for economic fairness, transparency and social and environmental justice.

As the District 5 Legislator, Lynn looks forward to bringing her Common Council experience and insight to the Ulster County Legislature. She has been instrumental in bringing positive changes to Kingston and looks forward to bringing that same energy, leadership, and vision to the county level.

Lynn lives in uptown Kingston with her spouse, Amy, and their three children, Ray, Lucy and Ella. The family settled on the City of Kingston because of its vibrant history and welcoming, diverse and dynamic community.
