 The Business Services Administrator works closely with the Director of Business Services to support Ulster County's businesses with their efforts to grow and thrive, as well as help new businesses locate within the County and succeed.  This person must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.  Attention to detail is important.

Among other responsibilities, the Business Services Administrator will:

·         Assist businesses with accessing financing, including applications for grants; as well as help businesses with site selection and provide business counseling;

·         Administer revolving loan funds, Industrial Development Agency (IDA), and Capital Resource Corporation (CRC) projects, including analyzing the applications, gathering data and maintaining relationships throughout the life of the projects;

·         Develop and maintain relationships with commercial real estate brokers and maintain commercial property listings on Catalyst database;

·         Work on Shovel Ready and Ready-to-Go projects;

·         Provide technical support for the Office of Business Services, UCDC, the IDA, the CRC, the Revolving Loan Fund Committee and the Shovel Ready Committee;

·         Comply with NYS Authorities Budget Office (ABO) reporting requirements for UCDC, the IDA and the CRC;

·         Create and implement activities and events directed to Ulster County's local businesses for the purpose of business retention and expansion;

·         Create and implement activities and events directed to businesses located outside of Ulster County for the purpose of attracting new businesses to the County;

·         Perform other duties and tasks supporting the Office of Business Services' mission as needed.

·         The ideal candidate possesses a strong business background. Real estate and/or banking experience is preferred and economic development experience is helpful.  A working knowledge of planning and zoning laws, as well as a working knowledge of agency reporting requirements for the ABO is helpful.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:

A.  Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, Economic Development, Environmental Law or closely related field; OR  

B.  Graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, Economic Development, Environmental Law or closely related field and two (2) years of responsible work experience in the business development, planning, economic land use, environmental use or a closely related field; OR

C.  An equivalent combination of training and experience as described in A or B above.

Special Requirement for appointment to Ulster County positions: In accordance with Ulster County Legislative Local Law Number 14 of 2007 or by other State and Federal Statutes, candidates for employment to all Ulster County positions must obtain clearance for appointment from the Department of Criminal Justice System or other mandated Federal and State regulatory authority based upon fingerprinting and a criminal history background check. This position will require a criminal background check and a candidate will be required to complete and sign a Criminal Background Investigation Release Form.  Upon a conditional employment offer, a candidate will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
