Spring Trail Building

April 23 we're building a new trail to connect with the John Burroughs Nature Sanctuary.
Spring should be here in full force. Or, at least we're counting on it for our April 23 Spring Trail Day! Meet at 9:00 am at the Pond Lane entrance.

We're excited to finally put our picks to the dirt at the Gordon Property to create an extension of the trails of the Nature Sanctuary, joining them to the land directly across Floyd Ackert from the Sanctuary. The property is an extension of what John Burroughs called Whitman Land, because it too was wild. It showcases the Middle Falls. A stunning location, the falls are one of the go-to-showoff spots Burroughs would take his visitors. You'll want to linger there too.
We'll be working with our partners at Scenic Hudson as we shape the new trail that starts across from the Pond Land entrance to the Nature Sanctuary. As a segment of the planned John Burroughs Black Creek Corridor Tail, in time our new trail will continue along the Creek to the Hudson at the Black Creek Preserve
Meet at 9:00 am at the Pond Lane entrance Burroughs Drive and stay as long as you're able. For those who can stay into the afternoon pack a lunch and we'll find a nice spot. Bring water and work gloves--clippers and a metal rake would also help.
We'll have trail treats as we also celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day, a week early!
