Judgments, Mechanic's Liens, Uniform Commercial Code, New York State Tax Warrants and Federal Tax liens are filed in the Ulster County Clerk’s Office and can be searched in our office or can be searched on line at https://www.searchiqs.com/NYULS/Login.aspx.

As required by New York State Law, judgments and liens are permanent records accessible by the public. As these documents and filings are indexed by name, you must know and search by a debtor's last name.  Each judgment or lien entry will contain information about the original filing as well as any subsequent filings such as satisfactions and renewals.  Note that judgments are enforceable against real property for ten years and twenty years against personal property.

FILING A TRANSCRIPT OF JUDGMENT

To file a Transcript of Judgment, you must submit the original Transcript of Judgment from the Justice/City Court or County of original entry.  The Certificate must have a raised seal and an original court signature for filing.  The fee for filing is $10.00.

Once the Transcript of Judgment is filed with the Ulster County Clerk’s Office an execution against the defendant can be obtained from our office.

  • An Income Execution may be utilized if the Plaintiff has knowledge of the Defendant’s employer. The Plaintiff must request this Execution by submitting a signed statement and provide the Clerk’s Office with the employer information (name and address) and knowledge or belief that the Defendant makes at least $270.00 per week.
  • A Property Execution may be utilized if the Plaintiff has knowledge of the Defendants banking information. This request must also be made by submitting a signed statement.

The County Clerk’s Office prepares the Execution for the Plaintiff for a fee of $5.00.  Once the individual obtains the execution from our office they must contact the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department for processing.  The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office also charges a fee which varies depending on the travel distance for the service of the Execution and the distance to the Defendant’s bank or employer.  You may obtain further information by calling the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Civil Division at 845-340-3643 or visiting their website at https://ulstercountyny.gov/sheriff/.
