Government Operations Climate Action Plan Ulster County’s Carbon Footprint Reduction Program was developed by the Ulster County Department of the Environment in order to reduce the environmental footprint associated with municipal government operations.
Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Program This voluntary program engages and educates local governments in New York State, providing a robust framework to guide municipal climate mitigation efforts. The program encourages ongoing planning and implementation of actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help communities adapt to the effects of climate change.
Flood Hazard Mitigation Building community resiliency before the next flood disaster, and providing hands-on support for local communities and County officials to better respond after the next flooding event.
Sustainable Materials Management Ulster County government promotes sustainability by reducing waste production, reusing and recycling old materials, and following green procurement policies when new materials are purchased.
Natural Resources Inventory The Ulster County Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) and Municipal Toolkit were developed to create an interactive database that documents the location, condition and importance of our county's natural resources.
Stormwater Management Program (MS4) Pollution from stormwater run-off can negatively impact water quality and ecosystem health, increasing flood flows and infrastructure damage. The MS4 Stormwater program helps to protect our valuable water resources and prevent flood damage.
Water Quality Coordinating Committee The WQCC is responsible for providing oversight of all water quality programs and related activities in the County. It assesses the impact of pollution on water quality and determines whether water quality monitoring and administration are appropriate.
Climate Corps Internship Program Ulster County Climate Corps is a paid, project-based 10-week summer internship program. This internship program is part of a broader effort to recruit and cultivate the next generation of public servants who reflect the talents and diversity of our community. Interns will gain professional and practical experience in government, supported by skill-based training and guest speakers covering topics

Green the Scene Green the Scene: Zero-Waste Bound! is a new grant program designed to reduce waste and promote environmental stewardship across the County.Through this program, organizations hosting fairs, festivals, and community events can apply for reimbursement grants of up to $2,000 per event to cover zero-waste-related expenses.
