Proposes Resolution to Exempt Local Portion of Sales Tax

County Executive Mike Hein and the Ulster County Civil Service Employees Association have announced that after more than a year of negotiations, a tentative agreement has been reached covering the 1300+ Ulster County employees represented by CSEA. This tentative agreement, if ratified, would extend through December 31, 2014. The prior agreement expired on December 31, 2010.

Kingston, NY – Today, County Executive Mike Hein thanked Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for signing important legislation to address the needs of Ulster County veterans. This new law authorizes the transfer of property in Kingston, NY to Ulster County. The property will enable the County Executive to realize his goal, as expressed in his 2012 State of the County Speech, to create a place where Ulster County’s homeless veterans can directly access support services on a transitional basis.

Ulster County’s Department for the Environment is hosting a “green purchasing” intern for the summer. The internship is sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACO) Green Government Program. In addition to the intern, the Green Government Program provides information and resources about the best green purchasing programs across the nation. “The goal of this internship is to help Ulster County progress in our efforts to purchase products that are environmentally-friendly,” said County Executive Hein.
