COUNTY EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCES THE 2010 ULSTER COUNTY SENIORS OF THE YEAR AWARD

Ulster County Residents Receive Awards for Volunteer Activity

 

Kingston, NY- William Paulus and Lucy Polacco were recognized today, as the 2010 Ulster County Seniors of the Year, at the Hillside Manor in Kingston, by the Ulster County Executive Mike Hein.

The two exceptional seniors were thanked for their efforts to enhance the lives and well being of others in our community.

Ulster County is blessed to have outstanding citizens such as William Paulus and Lucy Polacco,said County Executive Hein.

They exemplify the finest tradition of caring, compassion and service to others. I would like congratulate them on this award and extend my deepest gratitude for their efforts on behalf of all of Ulster County.

William Paulus has a long history of giving his time for the betterment of our community. He is a member of the Kiwanis and Lions service organizations. As the Trip Coordinator of the local AARP, he plans interesting and exciting trips for seniors He is also on the board of the Ulster

Performing Arts Center, one of our Countys most valuable cultural resources.Lucy Polacco is well known for lending a helping hand to others whenever needed. She is someone who always brings a smile to the faces of those around her. Her passion for spreading happiness is a quality well known amongst her peers.

The Ulster County Senior of the Year Award is a yearly recognition of two of Ulster Countys outstanding senior citizens. Nominations are sent to Ulster County Office for the Aging Advisory Council from numerous groups in order to make selections. An Advisory Council Selection Committee chooses two senior citizens for the award based on the significance of their contributions to our community.

County Executive Hein added, I want to thank Anne Cardinale and her entire staff, as well as the OFA Advisory Council for their effort in selecting these two awardees.
