STATEMENT FROM COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE HEIN

Posted December 9, 2010

"Today I signed the 2011 Ulster County budget with no county property tax increase. I am proud of the extraordinary efforts put forth by the budget and finance staff and all department personnel in producing this budget. I would also like to acknowledge the Ulster County Legislature for their hard work and dedication during this year’s process. The difficult decisions made in this financial plan ensure that essential services will continue to be delivered and the interests of the property taxpayers remain paramount.

"As the state moves to address its potential $10+ billion deficit next year, Ulster County’s 2011 budget will prove to be a strong foundation for managing the challenges that will inevitably face local governments. It is my responsibility as County Executive to protect Ulster County residents and that is exactly what was done with this 0% increase budget."
