General Services, Department of

The Department of General Services manages all aspects of the procurement process, seeking to maximize the benefits that Ulster County citizens receive from the expenditure of public funds on goods and services.

We initiate and maintain relationships between Vendors and County Departments, serving as the exclusive channel through which all requests for County purchases and price quotations are handled. Our work includes:

  • Identifying and developing sources of goods and services
  • Assisting departments in creating specifications
  • Soliciting bids, quotes, and requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Facilitating award selection

We strive for a professional, ethical, and lawful purchasing program, dedicated to transparency, impartiality, accountability, and excellent customer service.  Central to this responsibility is the administration of County Purchasing Policies and Procedures.

We also offer centralized business services to other departments and run the County Mailroom.
