Ulster County Sustainable Purchasing Program and Policy

In 2023, the County updated its Sustainable Purchasing Policy. The updated policy can be viewed here. With the policy updates, Ulster County became a participating NYS Green Purchasing Communities Program municipal member.  Green or sustainable purchasing means making informed choices to purchase products that have a lower environmental impact. This initiative is in alignment with County Executive Jen Metzger’s Executive Order 1 of 2023 which created a bold climate agenda for Ulster County Government, and it is being implemented via a close collaboration between the County’s Departments of the Environment and Purchasing.
