Kingston, N.Y. – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein was joined Jeremy Ellenbogen, President & CEO of Ellenbogen Creative Media; Brian Mahoney, Editorial Director at Luminary Media; Ulster County’s Director of the Office of Economic Development, Suzanne Holt; and numerous business leaders in our community to launch the new Economic Development Guide and economic development website: and to highlight the continued growth in Ulster County’s economy.

This new Guide is specifically tailored to target the growing film industry, small tech businesses and the food and beverage manufacturing cluster, but it makes it clear that many types of businesses are welcome.  It also highlights Ulster County’s natural beauty and “green” initiatives.

Michael P. Hein, Ulster County Executive

“Ulster County’s new Economic Development Guide and website will help those looking to open or expand their businesses to understand the great value of doing business here.  With quick access to every major market in the Northeast, three New York State Thruway entrances and close proximity to two major airports, Ulster County is an easy place to do business.  Ulster offers lower business costs, an educated workforce, abundant low cost real estate, stunning landscapes, exceptional recreational opportunities, charming villages and towns, an historic and dynamic city, a thriving cultural scene and history, and proximity to New York City by car, bus and train.  This is an ideal choice for four-season living and locating so many types of businesses.”

James Maloney, Chair of the Ulster County Legislature’s Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit Committee and Vice Chair of the Ulster County Economic Development Alliance

“Every day business becomes more competitive.  Ulster County is overflowing with activity. The new Ulster Business Guide puts all of the necessary information under one cover for anyone who is thinking of relocating or expanding existing businesses. The Guide points you in the right direction for all of your needs: financing; staffing and workforce statistics; and site selection information are all in the Guide.    The guide is a great tool for Ulster County to attract new businesses and developers.”

Jeremy Ellenbogen, President & CEO of Ellenbogen Creative Media

"The team at Ulster County Economic Development has been a great help to the local economy, especially here at Seven21 Media Center by working to attract Start UP NY tenants; film, video, and technology jobs; and working to promote our region to the New York metro area.  We have seen a major growth in our business over that last few years and are now looking to expand our media center adding another 10,0000 SF for budding technology companies. Great things are coming for Ulster, and County Executive Hein is leading the charge!"

Charles Ferri, Founder & CEO of Star Vodka USA

"County Executive Mike Hein and his team in the Office of Economic Development have treated our project like it was their own, most notably by helping us apply for and win a $750,000 grant from New York State. They work tirelessly to help businesses like my own have the best chance of succeeding. I do not think we would have received this kind of support from any other County in the State and we are extremely grateful!”

If you want to truly have a worthwhile impact on revitalizing our local economy, you have to be willing to form partnerships with all different types of businesses. This guide helps bridge those connections and I am happy to support this effort by the County by advertising.”
