County Executive Mike Hein Announces Ulster County’s 2017 Top Cop Awards Sponsored By The Mid-Hudson Region Stop-DWI Coordinators

Kingston, NY –County Executive Mike Hein is pleased to announce Ulster County’s 2017 TOP COP award winners. The awards were issued on April 12, 2018 at a ceremony during the Mid-Hudson Region Enforcement/Prosecution Conference held at Anthony’s Pier 9, New Windsor, New York.  The ceremony, sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Region STOP-DWI Coordinators, was held in recognition of those law enforcement officers who have excelled in their region. The Top Cop Awards recognize officers for their diligence in DWI enforcement.

“Congratulations to all the honorees who were recipients of the 2017 TOP COP Awards,” said Ulster County Executive Hein.  “Every day there are law enforcement officers who go above and beyond their duties to serve and protect each and every resident of our County. I am honored to have an opportunity to thank them for their commitment and recognize them for their exemplary service.”

Ulster County awards were presented by Deborah Stitt, Ulster County STOP DWI Coordinator in the following categories:

MUNICIPAL:

1st place – Officer Michael DeFrance, Kingston Police Department

2nd place– Officer John Zani, Lloyd Police Department

ULSTER COUNTY SHERIFF:

1st place- Deputy Donald Corso

 2nd place- Deputy Christopher Heimink

NYS POLICE- Troop F:          

1st place – Trooper Robert J. Eggering

 2nd Place - Trooper Joseph M. Alma

EXEMPLARY SERVICE AWARDS were also presented to:

Officer Curt McDermott, Shawangunk Police Department

Troopers Joseph M. Alma, Robert Eggering, and Dennis Carolan

Awards are based on total of DWI related arrests made during the calendar year.

Assisting with the presentations were: Chief Daniel Waage, Lloyd Police Department; Lieutenant Wallace Fulford, UC Sheriff’s Office, Captain Paul Hogan, NYS Police Troop F, and Lisa Bondarenka, Ulster County Assistant District Attorney.
