The Ulster County Transportation Council Will Begin Accepting Applications From The Towns, Villages and City As The First Step In Awarding More Than $3 Million
Kingston, NY — Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces that more than $3 million in infrastructure funding will be made available to the County’s towns, villages and City of Kingston. This is in addition to the County Executive’s historic $30 million infrastructure investment program known as “Building A Better Ulster County.” The funds can be used by the municipalities for paving projects as well as bridge repair.
“Ulster County residents have seen an unprecedented investment in the County’s roads and bridges recently and we plan to continue our work next year with an additional $15 million,” said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. “Through multi-year savings and restructuring we have been able to launch ‘Building A Better Ulster County’ and the results have been phenomenal. At the same time, we realize our towns, villages and City face financial challenges that often result in needed road and bridge repair being postponed; that is why as Chairman of the Ulster County Transportation Council, I am pleased to make more than $3 million available to assist them in their infrastructure needs. I urge any of our municipalities to submit applications as soon as possible.”
The funding is being made available through the Ulster County Transportation Council utilizing Federal Surface Transportation Program funds. Projects eligible for funding include: rehabilitation of off-system (not a federal aid highway) bridges; and pavement resurfacing, rehabilitation and other complete streets projects on federal aid roads. Pursuant to federal guidelines, all projects require a 20% local match by the municipality. Municipalities may submit multiple applications.
Applications must be received by the Ulster County Transportation Council by 5:00 pm, November 25, 2016. For detailed application instructions and forms, please visit: http://ulstercountyny.gov/planning/transportation-improvement-plan/tip-call-for-projects
