“Soldier On” Will Oversee And Manage The Daily Operations At The Ulster County Patriots Project

Kingston, NY- Today, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announced a public/private partnership with Soldier On, a nationally recognized Veterans outreach not-for-profit which specializes in offering a continuum of care for homeless Veterans in an environment that offers dignity, integrity and most importantly, hope.  Soldier On has agreed to provide 24 hour a day on site management of the Ulster County Patriots Project located on Wurts Street in Kingston, including case management services.

“We are pleased to partner with Soldier On, an organization that has proven it places the needs of our Veterans above all else when they return from protecting the freedoms we all enjoy every day,” said County Executive Mike Hein.  “Soldier On has agreed to be responsible for costs associated with staffing the Patriots Project as well as providing services to Veteran residents, while Ulster County will pay for the costs of upkeep and maintaining the physical residence.Soldier On has significant experience operating transitional Veteran housing as well as coordinating the delivery of services to those in need which makes it a perfect match for the Patriots Project.  The fact that Soldier On has a proven track record of providing 24 hour, professional staffing and case management services which are designed to create a pathway from homelessness to stability is a testament to the value of this public/private partnership as well as the commitment to our Veterans by Soldier On and its CEO John Downing.  In the end, our Veterans are owed so much more than we could ever repay; and it is our duty to ensure that every Veteran has safe, dignified housing available to them in their time of need.”

“We at Soldier On are extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve Veterans in Ulster County,” said John Downing, President/CEO of Soldier On.  “We look forward to bringing our comprehensive services to the veterans who will be housed in the Wurts Street home. We currently provide services through our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) grant to 24 Veterans and family members in Ulster County and we look forward to developing a continuum of care that will bring stabilization and success to Veterans across Ulster County. County Executive Mike Hein, Veterans’ Service Agency Director Steve Massee and VISN 2 of the Department of Veterans Affairs are to be commended and thanked for their determination, support and successful development of this project.”
