Veterans helping Veterans
Kingston, NY – County Executive Mike Hein thanked members of the John F. Jordan Memorial Post #5086 VFW for their generous donations of a washer and dryer for the transitional home for homeless Veterans at 67 Wurts Street in Kingston. He was joined by VFW members: Commander Jim Cahoon, Darrell Nicholas, Bernie O’Malley, Don Sayut, Lester Frost, Herb Morehouse, and William Clogston.
“It is inspiring to see our local Veterans continually helping one another and this is just another example of what a caring community we have right here in Ulster County,” said County Executive Mike Hein. “I want to thank the members of the VFW Post #5086 for their generosity which is an extension of the outpouring of support we have had from other Veterans along with the numerous local businesses and service organizations, church communities and individuals which have helped to make this project a reality.”
“The VFW Post #5086, along with County Executive Hein, is proud to help our brothers and sisters in need,” said Jim Cahoon, Commander. “We are staying true to our word and helping to make sure no one is left behind.”
VFW Post #5086 also participates in “Red Shirt Friday” and contributes to organizations such as the Wounded Warriors Project as well as Operation SOS in Saugerties which sends comfort packages to local service men and women who have been deployed for service.
