Ellenville, NY – County Executive Mike Hein is hosting a panel discussion at Gaby’s Café in Ellenville for the Spanish-speaking business community and those interested in starting a business. “Ulster County is a great place to operate a business and I am pleased to be able to share important information about starting and owning a business with the Spanish-speaking community,” stated County Executive Hein. “I want to thank Mr. Garcia for hosting this event in his beautiful restaurant and for sharing his successes and lessons learned. Everyone who wants to own or operate a business in Ulster County should have easy access to all of the available tools and resources.”
The event will be held at Gaby’s Café in Ellenville on Wednesday, Oct. 29th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Panelists will include Dr. Arnaldo Sehwerert, regional director of the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center; Carlos A. Campuzano, a bilingual marketing professional; and Genero Garcia, co-owner of Gaby’s Café, a wonderful restaurant in Ellenville offering traditional Mexican fare. Mr. Garcia opened Gaby’s Cafe in 2008; it has grown steadily and is in the process of expanding. Mr. Garcia will speak on the panel about the lessons he has learned starting and keeping this business thriving.
Dr. Sehweret and his staff at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provide technical assistance and counseling to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Dr. Sehweret holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz, a master’s degree in management from Binghamton University and a Ph.D. in manpower studies from Cornell University. He has worked for several organizations of all sizes and owned a successful management consulting practice. Dr. Sehwerert is a member of the SUNY New Paltz Business Advisory Council, the Advisory Council of the Business Department at SUNY Ulster and the Board of Directors of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce.
Carlos A. Campuzano has worked for more than a decade in the banking industry in the Mid-Hudson Valley. His experience has given him the opportunity to strengthen his knowledge of regional bank products and services and he has developed a bi-lingual initiative among the local Latino people. He has lived in Ulster County for more than 12 years and holds a master’s degree in business administration from SUNY New Paltz.
