Ulster County Executive Mike Hein Appoints Richard Muellerleile As EMS Coordinator

EMS Coordinator To Be A Resource For Emergency Services Agencies

Kingston, N.Y. – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces the appointment of Richard Muellerleile to fill the position of EMS Coordinator for Ulster County.    The EMS Coordinator will work closely with the Ulster County Office of Emergency Management, Ulster County Emergency Medical Services Council, Ulster County Fire Advisory Board, Ulster County Fire Coordinators, Law Enforcement, Ulster County Department of Health and the Hudson Valley Regional EMS Council. The EMS Coordinator will serve as the County’s contact person for the New York State Bureau of EMS in order to identify additional funding sources for EMS education and preparedness to assist EMS agencies serving the residents of Ulster County.  Mr. Muellerleile will also coordinate EMS resources during a multi-jurisdictional response.

“Rich Muellerleile will be a wonderful addition to our Emergency Services team, bringing many years of experience and knowledge that will help in our efforts serving our residents,” said County Executive Hein.  “First responders are critical in emergency situations and are heroes day in and day out. We are very fortunate in Ulster County to have so many amazing police, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics.  I’m confident that he will be able to provide important coordination among the many EMS agencies as he works with Steve Peterson.”

“I have had the opportunity to work with Rich on many occasions,” said Wayne Freer, Ulster County Arson Coordinator and First Deputy Fire Coordinator.  “Rich has been involved in EMS activities for many years and has great experience and I am glad that County Executive Hein chose someone with such a professional background.”

“I am pleased that Rich Muellerleile has been chosen as EMS Coordinator by County Executive Hein,” said Charles Mutz, Ulster County Chief Fire Coordinator.  “He will be able to provide professional expertise to EMS for years to come.”

Mr. Muellerleile is currently Chief of Department for the Town of Shandaken Ambulance, a Career Firefighter/Paramedic with the Arlington Fire District in Dutchess County and past President of the Ulster County EMS Council.  The part-time position of EMS Coordinator was included in the 2015 Ulster County Budget with a non-benefited annual salary of $14,162.
