Providing A Single Location For Preventative Health Resources In Ulster County
HealthyUlsterCounty.net
Kingston, NY – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces the launch of the newly redesigned Healthy Ulster County website (HealthyUlsterCounty.net), providing users with easy listing and access to preventative health resources throughout Ulster County. This upgrade is in keeping with County Executive Hein’s initiative to make Ulster County the healthiest County in New York State and supports the State and County’s Prevention Agenda.
The Healthy Ulster County site is designed to bring Ulster County’s substantial preventative health resources together in one convenient and user friendly online location. Subject to guidelines, the site allows Ulster County residents, businesses and non-profits to list their preventative health products, programs, services and events, at no charge. The site also features articles by local and nationally recognized health and fitness experts, great healthy recipe ideas, and links to REConnect, Ulster County’s interactive map of parks, trails and outdoor recreation areas. Residents and visitors alike will find everything they need to eat healthier, get fit and maintain optimum health.
“One critical factor that influences a person’s overall health is their natural surroundings, and Ulster County is blessed with a pristine environment and we have fought hard to protect and foster it,” said County Executive Hein. “In addition to the County’s environmental stewardship, residents and visitors enjoy a wealth of preventative health resources, including world-class parks and trails, spas and wellness centers, alongside the freshest and best locally grown produce available anywhere. We are also home to many of our nation’s most talented preventative healthcare practitioners. I am pleased that the new Healthy Ulster County site allows us to present all of the County’s abundant, preventative health resources in a format that is easily accessible. I urge everyone to visit the new website.”
“Improving health outcomes through prevention is the wave of the present and future here in Ulster County, and throughout the nation,” said Ulster County Commissioner of Health, Dr. Carol Smith. “Increasing access to fresh, healthy food and physical activity options is a proven strategy for preventing chronic disease and reducing the substantial health care costs associated with treating preventable diseases. The Healthy Ulster County site is a great tool that can help make achieving a healthy lifestyle obtainable, especially during these hectic times.”
The website can be accessed at www.HealthyUlsterCounty.net or at www.UlsterCountyNY.gov. HealthyUlsterCounty.net is administered by the Health Education Unit of the Ulster County Department of Health and Mental Health.
