The Reconstructed Bridge Was Completed Ahead Of Schedule And Under Budget
Kingston, NY – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces that the Mount Marion Bridge also known as the “3 RRR’s Bridge,” a critical thoroughfare over the Plattekill Creek at the Saugerties/Ulster border, has been reconstructed and is now open for all motorists to safely travel.
“I am pleased to announce that the Mount Marion Bridge has been completed as part of our unprecedented $15 million Building a Better Ulster County initiative. It has been redesigned to better handle the additional demands of increased traffic loads and is now open to the public,” said County Executive Mike Hein. “Once again our amazing, dedicated workers in the Department of Public Works have delivered another project on time and under budget.”

“I am certain I speak for all of the residents of Saugerties in saying how pleased we are that the Mount Marion Bridge has been upgraded and is open as scheduled before the start of school,” said Town of Saugerties Supervisor Greg Helsmoortel. “The County Executive’s leadership has ensured that just within the last year we have seen the PVI Bridge re-engineered and rebuilt, almost 6 miles of King’s Highway repaved, and now the improvement of this bridge. I appreciate County Executive Hein making this investment in our infrastructure and improving the safety of the people of Saugerties.”

The upgrade and replacement of the Mount Marion Bridge was included in County Executive Hein’s unprecedented $15 million “Building A Better Ulster County” initiative. As a result of this investment in county infrastructure, an unprecedented 7 bridges and more than 83 miles of County Roads will be upgraded/resurfaced in 2015 which is almost 20% of all County Roads in a single year.
