Following Executive Order To Lower All Flags At County Building To Half-Staff, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein Delivers Statement On The Passing Of Vito Dispensa

Posted September 10, 2015

“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the passing of Vito Dispensa.  He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and Commander of American Legion Post 193 in the Town of Lloyd as well as 2nd Vice Commander of the Ulster County American Legion, and in recognition of his dedication to Ulster County and our Veterans, I have ordered flags at County buildings be flown at half-staff in his honor.  A Veteran who served during the Korean War, Vito was dedicated and steadfastly committed to issues affecting our Veterans and was a tireless advocate for their cause.  He served as Chairman of the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery Committee in order to ensure that all of Ulster County’s Veterans have an appropriately reverent final resting place.  During this difficult time our prayers are with his wife of 58 years Martha, and the entire family.  Ulster County has lost a leader and an unselfish advocate whom we will all truly miss.”
