Ulster County Exploring Partnership With SUNY Ulster, The Town Of Marlborough and the Marlboro Central School District To Create An Additional Community College Extension Site 

Kingston, N.Y. – Building on the success of the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster which opened in 2015, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein is focused on continually expanding partnerships like those between SUNY Ulster, the Marlboro Central School District, the Town of Marlborough and Ulster County Government to increase access to higher education for more residents of Southern Ulster County.  The proposed Marlborough SUNY Ulster extension would be co-located with the Marlborough Town Hall in what was formerly the site of the Milton Elementary School.  The fact that the repurposed building previously served as a school makes it uniquely suited to be seamlessly transitioned, in part, into a higher education learning center.

The Marlboro Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools have been steadfast in their support of providing collegiate opportunities for our children and I want to thank County Executive Hein for realizing the potential and supporting this endeavor. Having a SUNY Ulster center located in the community will provide easier access to programs and ignite a relationship that has endless possibilities."

The Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster opened in 2015 at the site of the former Sophie Finn Elementary School on Mary’s Avenue in Kingston.  The college hosts day and evening classes for students, continuing education classes for adults and is also the home to the Hudson Valley P-Tech Academy, an advanced science and technology program for high school students and the only one of its kind located on at a college facility.
