Chief Cruise Had A Law Enforcement Career That Spanned 27 Years

Kingston, N.Y. – Surrounded by law enforcement personnel, first responders, and the family of the late Town of Ulster Police Chief Anthony Cruise, Ulster County Executive dedicated the bridge that carries Sawkill Road over the Sawkill Creek as the “Anthony E. Cruise Memorial Bridge.”  Chief Cruise passed away on December 8, 2016 after a 27 year law enforcement career that began as a Corrections Officer at the Ulster County Jail and culminated with him becoming chief of the Town of Ulster Police Department in 2012.  The County Executive was joined by the Chief’s wife, Christa, and his daughter, Ashley, to publicly unveil the dedication sign.

“Tony Cruise was a dedicated police officer, devoted husband, loving father and loyal friend, and we sorely miss him,” said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein.  “This bridge, which stands just down the road from where he lived and Christa continues to reside, will remind generations to come of one of Ulster County’s finest public servants we had the privilege of knowing.  I want to offer a heartfelt thanks to Christa and Ashley for allowing us to share the memory of this truly remarkable man.”
