Posted November 4, 2019

“On behalf of the entire county, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young man who passed away in this morning’s accident in southern Ulster County. The accident, on Albany Post Road near the county border, involved two Ulster County Department of Public Works trucks and a civilian in a separate vehicle who was fatally injured in this tragedy. The three County employees in the trucks, who were assigned to a tree and brush clearing detail in the area of the crash, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Orange County Regional Medical Center for treatment. County government will work closely with the New York State Police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate the accident and will additionally conduct a comprehensive internal review of all county policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of safety possible through all county operations. On behalf of the entire county, we are wishing for a full and speedy recovery for our employees injured in the crash and again extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the young man during this extremely difficult time.”
