County Government will go on the road to bring services to residents in every corner of the County

KINGSTON, N.Y. - Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan announced today the roll out of his Mobile County Government Initiative that will take County Government on the road and directly bring resources to residents across the County. County Executive Ryan will join other County employees, including Department Heads, who will work out of town offices alongside town officials. A part of the County Executive’s ‘Responsive and Responsible Government’ initiative as one of his Big Five priorities, Mobile Government is a first of its kind program that will allow the County to better understand local concerns while providing essential services at scheduled locations all across Ulster County. There will be five locations in each quarter of 2020.

The first five regions for the first quarter are as follows:

  • Marlborough - Monday, February 24, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Marlborough Town Courtroom.
  • Shandaken - Friday, March 6, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Shandaken Town Hall.
  • Shawangunk - Friday, March 13, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Shawangunk Town Hall.
  • Saugerties - Tuesday, March 24, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Saugerties Town Hall.
  • Ellenville - Tuesday, March 31, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Trudy Farber Resnick Building.

“One of the main themes that I have heard in the 20 plus Town Halls I have done, is that people want a direct personal relationship with their government,” said County Executive Ryan. “Kingston should not be the only option for residents to receive services. We will be coming to communities in every part of our County to ensure that people are receiving what they need with the convenience of doing it in their own backyard.”

The Mobile County Government will provide services from the County Clerk’s Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) van, which can be used for vehicle registration and licenses to representatives from other Ulster County Governmental departments such as the Veteran Services Agency who will be available to provide support to County veterans and their families.

“Our office is looking forward to collaborating with Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan on his initiative to bring County Services on the road,” said Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack. “As we have done in the past, our DMV bus will be at these selected sites offering customers the ability to process DMV transactions throughout the day. What a wonderful opportunity for our office to work with other County departments to expand mobile services throughout the region.”

Services that will be provided for residents by departments include:

  • Ulster County Department of Social Services
  • Ulster County Office for the Aging
  • Ulster County Veterans Service Agency
  • Ulster County Probation Department
  • Ulster County Office of Employment and Training
  • Ulster County Area Transit
  • Ulster County Department of Economic Development
  • Ulster County Office of Health and Mental Health
  • Ulster County Clerk’s Office

A schedule including the dates and times of upcoming Mobile County Government sessions will be shared on the Ulster County Government Facebook page found here
