The Offices of the Ulster County Executive and Youth Bureau will host a Hispanic Heritage Month ceremony on Monday, September 16, at 5-6 pm, on the first floor of the County Office Building at 244 Fair Street in Kingston.

The free event marks the official kick-off to Hispanic Heritage Month, an annual celebration that runs from September 15 to October 15, honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. September 15 is a significant date marking the independence anniversaries of a number of Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Chile and Mexico celebrating their independence days shortly thereafter.

The ceremony will include a formal Proclamation presented by Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, as well as brief cultural performances that highlight the rich traditions of the community, followed by a Parade of Flags representing diverse Hispanic nations. This gathering is a meaningful way to honor the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrate the unity and diversity within the Hispanic and Latino communities.
