Kingston, NY (September 30, 2009) - In late August 2009, Ulster County filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court against Nevele, LLC to ensure that all claims by the County for outstanding payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) and other unpaid taxes were satisfied before the closing of any auction sale of its property.
On September 2, 2009, the Honorable Richard Platkin, Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Third Judicial District, ruled in favor of Ulster County and signed an Order of Attachment against Nevele’s property.
Kingston, NY (September 28, 2009) - Many Ulster County fire departments and ambulance squads will be holding an open house on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 1 - 3 PM. This event not only denotes the start of Fire Prevention Week, but it is an opportunity for area residents to visit their local fire stations and ambulance buildings. Ulster County's on-going recruitment and retention campaign, which is geared toward increasing the number of volunteers in the County, is proud to partner with local fire and EMS providers in this event.
Kingston, NY (September 22, 2009) - Walkway Over the Hudson’s Official Grand Opening is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009. The Walkway is the world’s longest pedestrian bridge and its debut to the public marks a very special and historic time for Ulster County and its local communities. While people wait for the gates to open, the Hamlet of Highland will be the scene of “Highland HudsonFest”, a spectacular, free and fun-filled street featuring: a showcase of hamlet merchants, farms, vineyards, restaurants, artists - and more.
Kingston, NY (September 21, 2009) - Ulster County Executive Mike Hein was joined today by Lori DuBord from Congressman Maurice Hinchey’s Office, Town of Wawarsing Supervisor Ed Jennings, Ulster County District 1 Legislators and representatives from Kerhonkson’s Fire Department, First-Aid Squad, Lion’s Club and business community, for a groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the beginning of the construction process to replace the Herbert Poppel Bridge, in Kerhonkson, New York.
