1792 Order of Removal of Sarah Derbyshire and her son

State of NewYork Ulster County

To either of the Constables of the Town of the New Paltz, and to the Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Montgomery in the said County Upon the Complaint of Andries Dewitt and Elisha Lester Overseers of the Poor of the Town of the New Paltz in the Said county made unto us Johannis Snyder and Abraham B. Baucker two of the Peoples Justice of the Peace Assigned for the Said County and whose names are herein to ___ and Seal affixed - That Sarah Derbyshire aged twenty years with her young Male Child have come to inhabit in the said Town of the New Paltz not having gained legal Settlement there, nor produced a Certificate owning her to have legal Settlement elsewhere and that She with her Child are become Chargeable to the said Town of the New Paltz - We the said Justices upon due proof made thereof as well upon the Examination of the said Sarah as otherwise and also upon due Consideration of the Premises We do Ad judge that the said Sarah has not gained a legal settlement in the said town of the New Paltz And as her last place of legal Settlement is to us unknown We do therefore require you the Said Constable to convey or Transport the Said Sarah with her Male Child to the Constable of the nest Town on the nearest Route to the Town of Montgomery and from Constable to Constable to the said Town of Montgomery from whence she last came together
with this our Order, and there to deliver the said Sarah and her Child to the Overseer of the Poor of the said Town or some or one of them together with this our order, or a________ thereof, at the same time showing to him or them the Original. And we do further require you the said Overseer of the Poor of the said Town of Montgomery to receive the said Sarah and her Male Child and further to provide for them as the Laws shall or may require. given under our Hands and Seals at Kingston this fourth day of May in the sixteenth year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1792.
