ULSTER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM QUALIFIED PERSONS FOR THE POSITION OF

ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST (DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH)
This is a full-time position which involves responsibility for specialized work and office management involving the frequent exercise of independent judgment in actively participating in the development and revision of contracts, providing administrative support for the Family Court Evaluation Program and for court ordered evaluations as needed, providing support to the Medical Examiner’s Office and Community Services Board and providing support for informal and public hearings and drafting of Policy and Procedures.  A significant portion of the work involves typing, organizing, and corresponding. Work is performed under general supervision with wide leeway allowed for independent decision. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate employees. Does related work as required.
Candidates must meet the following Minimum Qualifications:  Either:
A.            Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's or higher-level degree and one (1) year of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, work experience in an administrative professional position which involved responsibility for administrative details; OR
B.             Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree and three (3) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, work experience as defined by the limits of A above; OR
C.            Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, work experience as defined by the limits of A above; OR
D.            An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A, B and C above.
Please Note:  This position will be filled on a provisional basis. The incumbent must participate in the civil service examination and score high enough to be appointed permanently from the resulting eligible list.

If this is an Ulster County position it will require a criminal background check and a candidate will be required to complete and sign a Criminal Background Investigation Release Form. Upon a conditional employment offer, a candidate will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
