Congratulations! You have been offered a position with Ulster County. You are scheduled for Orientation.
In this section you will find the information needed for a successful orientation and completion of necessary forms.
What to expect at Orientation:
The Ulster County New Employee Orientation is held at the Ulster County Personnel Department which is located in the Ulster County Office Building - 5th Floor, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, NY 12401 and begins promptly at 9:00 AM and ends approximately 3 hours later. You may park in the Ulster County Office Building parking lot, and submit your parking card at Orientation to be validated for payment.

What documentation is expected to be brought with you to Orientation? - I9 Documentation
Ulster County complies with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 by employing only United States citizens and non-citizens who are authorized to work in the United States. All Employees are asked to provide original documents verifying the right to work in the United States and to sign a verification form required by federal law (INS Form I-9).
Please bring appropriate forms of ID. Most people bring a passport or driver’s license and either an original birth certificate or social security card. Refer to the attached form for acceptable forms of identification.
- I9 form - Please review page 2 of the attached I9 form for the list of acceptable Identifications to bring with you to Orientation.
Federal Form W4 and NYS State Form IT2104 are forms that are completed for withholdings for payroll purposes. It is suggested that you consider your options for withholdings prior to Orientation.
Benefits
Health Insurance: If you are a Full Time or More than Half Time employee you are eligible for Health Care Insurance Coverage/Benefits. At Orientation you will be preparing paperwork to sign up for a Health Insurance Plan.
There will be documentation required for the coverage of dependents with Health Insurance.
Start Date for Benefits usually begins between 30 and 60 days from your start date. Coverage begins on the first of a month. For further details contact Ulster County Personnel at 845-340-3550.
Other Benefits: Depends on your Work status with regards to whether you are a CSEA union employee, a Sheriff Department employee or a management employee. See your specific bargaining union agreement or policy manual.
Payroll Direct Deposit: You will have an opportunity to complete a Direct Deposit Salary Enrollment Form at Orientation. If you are interested, you will need to bring either a voided check or a savings account deposit slip to attach to the form. Direct Deposit can be done at any time.
Retirement Benefits: If you are a full time employee you must join the retirement system. If you have been a NYS Retirement system employee in the past then you must join the NYS Retirement system. If you are a part time employee then you do not have to join the NYS Retirement system.
