ULSTER COUNTY, NEW YORK IS ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM QUALIFIED PERSONS FOR THE POSITION OF CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY TO THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
An employee in this class functions as the personal secretary to the Director of the Office of Economic Development within the Ulster County Department of Planning.  This individual is responsible for performing a variety of office management and high level clerical/secretarial tasks requiring confidentiality. The incumbent must be able to work independently, exercise independent judgement as well as multi-task, prioritize and pay great attention to details.  This position requires someone who can understand and comply with contracts and government rules and regulations, as well as comprehend basic financial accounting and budgeting practices. In addition, word processing, spreadsheet, database maintenance and other secretarial tasks must be performed. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Ulster County Director of Economic Development. Does related work as required.
Candidates must meet the following Minimum Qualifications:  Either:
A.   Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's or higher level degree, and three (3) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, progressively responsible clerical work experience which involved responsibility for administrative details; OR
B.   Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree and five (5) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, work experience as defined by the limits of A above; OR
C.   Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, work experience as defined by the limits of A above; OR
D.   An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A, B and C above.
Special Requirement for appointment to Ulster County positions: In accordance with Ulster County Legislative Local Law Number 14 of 2007 or by other State and Federal Statutes, candidates for employment to all Ulster County positions must obtain clearance for appointment from the Department of Criminal Justice System or other mandated Federal and State regulatory authority based upon fingerprinting and a criminal history background check.
If this is an Ulster County position it will require a criminal background check and a candidate will be required to complete and sign a Criminal Background Investigation Release Form. Upon a conditional employment offer, a candidate will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
