Ulster County Department of Health seeks a Physician to work in its STD/HIV Clinic located at 239 Golden Hill Lane, Kingston, NY 12401. Clinic is open 1 day per week, on Monday evenings with patients arriving between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Starting rate is $115.99/hr.
This is responsible professional work calling for the services of a licensed physician.  Employees in this class perform work of a general or specialized nature.  Work is outlined and reports are reviewed by the appropriate authority but methods of execution are left to the discretion of the physician.  Supervision may be exercised over the work of nursing personnel.  The physician may work in a staff capacity in a county institution such as a health-related facility, infirmary or jail or provide medical services or consultation in connection with a specific program such as sexually transmitted infections (STI’s).  The typical work activities listed below are illustrative of the kind of work an employee in this class may perform.  It is not a comprehensive list of all activities an employee in this class may engage in but rather is a list that shows the variety and kind of work the employee performs.  Conversely it is not expected that an employee in this class perform all of the duties listed below.  Depending on the location of employment a physician may engage in all or some of the activities described.
This position will provide direct patient care, including medical history taking, physical examinations, and diagnosis and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).  Order diagnostic and laboratory tests.  Formulate appropriate treatment plans, write medication orders, dispense medications, including vaccine administration.  Provide counseling and health education on the prevention of STIs.  Provide referrals for other services as needed.  Document all diagnoses, treatments, and other relevant information in the patient’s chart.  Attend and participate in staff development meetings and trainings.  Follow established clinic policies and procedures.  Adhere to quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.  Supervision may be exercised over the work of nursing personnel.

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualification:
At the time of appointment, candidates must be in possession of a current license issued by the New York State Education Department to practice medicine in the State of New York.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1)At the time of appointment, candidates must be in possession of a current license and registration as a Physician in accordance with Section 6524 of New York State Education Law, and Title 8, Part 60 of the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations (NYCRR).
2)Incumbents must be certified or eligible for certification in their area of specialization by the appropriate American Board of Medicine.
Special Requirement for appointment to Ulster County positions: In accordance with Ulster County Legislative Local Law Number 14 of 2007 or by other State and Federal Statutes, candidates for employment to all Ulster County positions must obtain clearance for appointment from the Department of Criminal Justice System or other mandated Federal and State regulatory authority based upon fingerprinting and a criminal history background check.
If this is an Ulster County position it will require a criminal background check and a candidate will be required to complete and sign a Criminal Background Investigation Release Form. Upon a conditional employment offer, a candidate will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
