“This morning many of us learned of the tragic shooting and the horror that unfolded at a concert in Las Vegas.  We offer our deepest condolences to the people of Las Vegas and extend our hearts and prayers to those who were injured and their loved-ones, and the families of the victims as they experience an unspeakable grief so that they may find comfort during this difficult time.  Out of respect and mourning, I have ordered that all County flags be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of those who lost their lives as a result of this senseless act.

Kingston, NY – September is National Preparedness Month (NPM) and Ulster County Executive Mike Hein recognizes this important initiative and encourages residents to plan and be prepared in the case of a disaster or crisis.  This nationwide effort which was started by the Ready Campaign is now in its fourteenth year, encouraging households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies.  The 2017 National Preparedness Month theme is “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.,” reminding everyone that “We should all take action to prepare!
