- During its July 15 session, the Ulster County Legislature voted 19 to 4 to authorize the transfer of the County-owned Elizabeth Manor property to the Ulster County Housing Development Corporation (UCHDC), advancing a key step in the development of a 15-unit affordable housing cooperative at 21 Elizabeth Street in Kingston. While the vote grants approval for the transfer, the property will not be conveyed until a later date, pending finalization of legal and administrative steps.
On Saturday, July 12, Ulster County Department of Emergency Services, in coordination with local fire and EMS agencies, conducted a full-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) exercise at Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Attractions in Ulster Park. The drill simulated a high-impact emergency scenario in a wooded campground setting and included active response to a mock plane crash and vehicle entrapment.
The Ulster County Department of Mental Health, in coordination with the Community Services Board and the Human Services Research Institute (HSRI), is advancing its Countywide Behavioral Health Needs Assessment with a community listening session on Sunday, August 10, 3:30 - 5 PM, at Saint James Church, 29 Pearl Street in Kingston.

KINGSTON, NY – County Executive Jen Metzger today announced the selection of a development team — including Maeda Construction, GA/GA architects, Community Preservation Corporation, and RUPCO — for the development of affordable housing on the site of the County-owned Elizabeth Manor property in Kingston. This significant step brings the County closer to its goal of providing much-needed affordable housing opportunities for local families.
