Kingston, NY—On Thursday June 13, 2024, Tyrone Taylor, age 47, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to one to three years in State Prison on his previously entered plea of guilty to the Class D felony of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated before the Honorable James Farrell.
KINGSTON, NY—Joseph Karolys, age 39, of Saugerties, was convicted of Manslaughter in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence following a two-week jury trial before the Honorable Bryan Rounds. The manslaughter and assault convictions carry a sentence of up to twenty-five years in State Prison. The jury began their deliberations at 11 a.m. and reached their verdict at 1:00 p.m.; the verdict was announced in court at 1:40 p.m.
Kingston, NY—Robert Cromie, age 56, of Wallkill, was sentenced in Ulster County Court to 1⅔ to 5 years in State Prison by the Honorable James Farrell. Cromie was convicted of Arson in the Third Degree, a Class C Felony, on March 7, 2024. Cromie was a member of the Wallkill Fire Department at the time he committed the crime
KINGSTON, NY - Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger announced the newly adopted Preferred Name and Pronoun Plan, which applies to all Ulster County employees to ensure an inclusive work environment in which all employees’ identities and pronouns are fully and appropriately reflected and used.
