DUNKIRK MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BURGLARY OF ESOPUS MOTEL

Kingston, NY—Jonathan Davis, age 36, of Dunkirk, NY, pleaded guilty to the violent felony of Burglary in the Second Degree on March 18, 2025 before the Honorable Bryan E. Rounds. Sentencing is scheduled for June 6, 2025.

On July 21, 2024, defendant broke into the victim's room at the Capri Motel in Esopus stealing a TV, electric bike, laptop, speakers, sneakers, and a bed spread. The Ulster County Sheriff's Office Detective Division conducted a thorough investigation, securing video surveillance showing defendant leaving the victim’s room carrying items and bringing them to his room. Detectives then obtained and executed a search warrant of the defendant’s room, recovering some of the stolen items.  DNA evidence secured by detectives from Ulster County Sheriff’s Office also linked the defendant to the burglary scene.

This matter is being prosecuted by Deputy Chief ADA Paul V. Derohannesian. The defendant is represented by Marlborough attorney Matthew Mahan.
