Posted October 3, 2024

KINGSTON, NY – On October 2, 2024, Ziare Green, age 29, of Kingston, was sentenced to 8 years in State Prison and 5 years of post-release supervision in Ulster County Court by the Honorable Bryan Rounds in connection to his July 2024 conviction of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Greene was arrested on December 8, 2023 for possessing a loaded pistol and cocaine in a home with four children inside. He was later arrested for domestic violence offenses after a collaborative investigation between the Kingston Police Department and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation resulted in evidence of the Greene repeatedly violating a domestic violence related order of protection by bringing the protected party, the victim, to court for his arraignment and calling the victim repeatedly from the Ulster County Jail. When Greene was arrested for the domestic violence incidents, he was located by law enforcement officers inside of the victim’s residence.

Special Victims Bureau Chief Jenna Hastings stated, “This is an example of the Intimate Partner Intervention Program working in our community—the collaboration between our Office and law enforcement led to the accountability this defendant required. This sentence should send a message of deterrence to all domestic violence offenders in Ulster County.”

The case was prosecuted by Bureau Chief Jenna Hastings and investigated by the Kingston Police Department. Greene was represented by Marlboro attorney Matthew Mahan.
