    Kingston, NY—On Thursday, January 25, 2024, Niaki Dial, age 20, of Kingston, was sentenced by the Honorable Bryan Rounds to eight years’ state prison followed by five years’ post-release supervision stemming from his September 18, 2023 guilty plea to Burglary in the Second Degree. He was additionally sentenced to a concurrent term of two and one-third to seven years in prison stemming from his guilty plea to Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree.

    KINGSTON, NY – On January 26, 2024, Nyqwuan Monroe, age 25, of Schenectady, pled guilty to Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-I felony, before the Honorable Thomas Marcelle, the same day pretrial hearings were scheduled. Monroe faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

    Kingston, NY—On Monday, January 22, 2024, Lucia Costa, age 22, of New Windsor, pled guilty to Assault in the Second Degree and Driving While Intoxicated in Ulster County Court. The convictions stemmed from a traffic stop on March 22, 2023 by the New Paltz Police Department. During the traffic stop, officers observed defendant to be visibly intoxicated and asked her to step out of the vehicle, at which time defendant took the police on a high-speed chase reaching maximum speeds of 85 mph in a posted 30 mph zone.

    KINGSTON, NY – On January 8, 2024, Eric Vanleuven age 39, of Shokan, pled guilty to Attempted Rape in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. The defendant faces 5 to 15 years’ state prison on the Attempted Rape in the First Degree and 3 to 7 years prison on the Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. The sentences can run consecutively.

Nneji  announced  his  executive  team,  ahead  of  his  public  swearing  in  ceremony scheduled  for  January  14,  2024  at  SUNY  New  Paltz.  This  team  will  provide  support  and guidance as he carries out the duties of the Office of the Ulster County District Attorney.

    Kingston, NY—On Monday January 8, 2024, Frederick Pilz, age 40, of Saugerties, pled guilty to the top count of his indictment charging him with Burglary in the Second Degree, immediately before jury selection was due to commence. The matter was scheduled for trial this week in Ulster County Court. The conviction stemmed from defendant going to a residence in the Town of Marbletown on February 16, 2023 and stealing a television. Defendant had been at the residence the day before, performing work he was hired to do.

    Kingston, NY-- On Thursday October 12, 2023, Mainor Sagastume, age 33, of Kingston, New York, was arraigned on an indictment by an Ulster County Grand Jury for the Felonies of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Stalking in the Second Degree and two counts of Stalking in the Fourth Degree.  Defendant waived extradition from Florida. Defendant was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail by the Honorable Bryan Rounds.

    Ulster County District Attorney David Clegg today announced that Chief Assistant District Attorney, Emmanuel Nneji, and Senior Assistant District Attorney, Felicia S. Raphael, secured a guilty plea on October 10, 2023, from former Ulster County Finance Director Burton Gulnick, Jr., in connection with the theft of tens of thousands of dollars from a local not-for-profit, as well as monies from an election campaign account. Sentencing is scheduled for January 19, 2024, at 3PM.

    Kingston, NY—Charles Burgher, age 32, of Highland, NY was convicted of five counts of rape in the second degree and three counts of criminal sexual act in the second degree following a fourday jury trial before the Honorable James Farrell. Defendant faces significant period of incarceration in state prison when he is sentenced; he was remanded without bail pending sentencing on December 8, 2023.
