KINGSTON, NY – On January 30, 2025, Joseph O'Bryan, age 31, of Shawangunk, was sentenced to up to ten years in prison stemming from his convictions of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child before the Honorable Bryan Rounds. Defendant's second guilty plea came after he was already pending sentence for a separate conviction of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child.

Kingston, NY—Antoine Scott, age 47, of Saugerties, pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree and was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 3 ½ to 7 years in State Prison before the Honorable Bryan E. Rounds on January 16, 2025.
Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger has appointed Mike Jurkovic, a published poet and music critic who lives in the Shawangunk hamlet of Wallkill, as the County’s 2025 Poet Laureate. Jurkovic succeeds poet Kate Hymes of New Paltz, the County's first resident to hold this honorary title, which was created by the County Executive in 2023.
Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger and Rosendale Town Supervisor Jeanne Walsh received a response earlier this week from the NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to their joint letter calling on the agency to improve pedestrian infrastructure at the intersection of State Routes 32 and 213 in Rosendale, where a tragic pedestrian fatality occurred on the evening of January 16.
